Surfaces that meet high requirements: the new scratch-resistant and chemical-resistant PLEXIGLAS® Optical
Coated PLEXIGLAS® Optical for hard-wearing surfaces
Scratch-resistant and chemical-resistant material from new production line
Museum showcases have to meet stringent requirements. Visitors brush up against the glazing, zips scratch over the surface, and fingers leave a myriad of prints. The showcases therefore have to be frequently cleaned yet still offer a clear view of exhibits for years to come. The new coated PLEXIGLAS® Optical was specifically developed for applications like these.
The material is resistant to scratching and chemicals and is suitable for picture glazing, furniture, exhibition booths and store fixtures as well as museum constructions. The coating on one side ensures that the surface quality remains intact even when exposed to heavy wear.
PLEXIGLAS® Optical with a scratch-resistant coating can be produced in thicknesses of 1.5 to 16 mm. The sheet is also UV-absorbing and therefore protects pictures and exhibits against yellowing.
As a rule, both transparent and colored sheets can be provided with this coating. Textured surfaces, such as matte or anti-glare materials, can also be manufactured. At the time of product launch, the new PLEXIGLAS® grade is available in Clear high-gloss.
PLEXIGLAS® Optical is produced under clean-room conditions on a new production line in Weiterstadt, which was delivered in late summer and has now gone into operation. This new line, combined with a specially developed coating, enables production of these extremely scratch-resistant and chemical-resistant sheets
