A new product from the PLEXIGLAS® LED range combines a radiant white effect during the day with excellent illumination qualities. This combination makes the material the perfect choice for illuminated advertising and illuminated walls.
Light dispersing materials for advertising signs, illuminated letters and walls not only need to shine bright at night – they also need to look great during the day. An advanced acrylic glass product from the PLEXIGLAS® LED range ensures that illuminated advertising that shines radiant white at night does not look cream-colored during the day.
Even greater product diversity
“We developed PLEXIGLAS® LED for backlighting WH52 Pure White for applications that use backlighting with LEDs, such as in illuminated advertising or shopfitting. Customers often requested a radiant white effect during the day,” explains Matthias Schäfer, Market Segment Manager for Visual Communication at Acrylic Products. Compared to the previous white colorings in the PLEXIGLAS® LED range, the new product is even whiter – almost cold white – while also enabling excellent light transmission and diffusion.
Good balance between day and night effect
Product benefits at a glance
- Radiant white in daylight
- Transmission: 44 percent
- No hot spots
- Extremely weather resistant
- Easy to process
- Low weight
- High break resistance
This white look without any yellow or gray shading is achieved through optimized interplay between dyeing and illumination properties. “Although the white shade of the panels almost equals that of completely dyed materials, the product’s light transmission and diffusion are in the same range as other PLEXIGLAS® products often used for illumination applications,” explains Schäfer. PLEXIGLAS® LED for backlighting WH52 Pure White allows 44 percent of the light to pass through, enabling energy-efficient, radiant illumination – all without any distracting differences in brightness, known as hot spots.
PLEXIGLAS® LED for backlighting WH52 Pure White also impresses with other renowned properties of acrylic glass, including durability, easy processing, low weight and high break resistance. The new material is therefore ideal for illuminated advertising and illuminated walls in booth construction and shopfitting, where the aim is to create a very white look in daylight.
Backlit with LEDs, these advertising products then shine brightly in the selected color of the LEDs.
