PLEXIGLAS® Applications



PLEXIGLAS® UV 100 (former PLEXIGLAS® Gallery) is the best UV blocker among picture glazing materials. Unlike conventional picture glass, e.g. float glass, PLEXIGLAS® UV 100 filters out all damaging UV rays. The UV protection offered by PLEXIGLAS® UV 100 is at least 99.7 percent (%) in material of 3mm thickness. This offers durable protection to artwork colors, canvas and paper. PLEXIGLAS® UV 100 therefore meets the highest demands in terms of conservation.


The legal foundations for transparent noise-control material are ZTV-Lsw 88, “Additional Technical Specifications and Guidelines for Building Noise Barriers along Roads”, issued by the German Federal Ministry of Transport, and European Standards EN 1793 Parts 1-3 and EN 1794 Parts 1-2 entitled “Road traffic noise-reducing devices”.

PLEXIGLAS® Soundstop and PLEXIGLAS® Soundsstop GS CC with integrated sliver retention meet these requirements. Transparent noise barriers made of PLEXIGLAS® Soundstop are:

  • highly transparent and clear 

  • extremely resistant to weathering and aging 

  • easy to form and machine

  • lightweight

  • and come with a 10-year guarantee

  • as well as being recyclable,

  • colorless and available in seven transparent colors


PLEXIGLAS® GS and XT are suitable as the protective shield material above the dasher boards from a material thickness of 12 mm. The tests for hockey puck resistance were conducted by the Materials Testing Institute in Stuttgart and are certified in test certificate No. 55150/900 9834-2. PLEXIGLAS® GS and XT with a scratch-resistant coating further enhance this functionality.


PLEXIGLAS® Heatstop solid and multi-skin sheets meet this requirement in the ideal manner. PLEXIGLAS® Heatstop is an infrared-reflecting grade of PLEXIGLAS®. Depending on the version, this sheet is equipped with a coextruded layer or colored in the mass. This functional layer contains special pearl-gloss pigments that are free from heavy metals. 

Like PLEXIGLAS® Heatstop, PLEXIGLAS® XT can be cold-curved and thermoformed. 

In incident light, PLEXIGLAS® Heatstop has a reddish-purple sheen, and a greenish sheen in transmitted light. This color has an iridescent effect. The color impression differs according to the viewing angle and lighting conditions. 

The Heatstop effect is achieved by reflecting a large portion of incident sunlight, especially in the infrared spectrum. This has very little effect on the high light transmission, however. Heat buildup indoors is therefore significantly reduced without a noticeable loss in brightness. 

Summing up, this translates as a reduction in air conditioning costs and makes it more pleasant to be in rooms glazed with PLEXIGLAS® Heatstop sheets.
