Test Certificates and Approvals for PLEXIGLAS®

PLEXIGLAS® XT and PLEXIGLAS® Resist meet the requirements of the German food legislation LFGB/LMBG with regard to the examined points. The material composition complies with EU Directive 2002/72 and its addenda.
The examinations show that there are no reservations regarding the use of the material in long-term contact with foods containing water and fats.

ACRIFIX®, PLEXIGLAS Resist, PLEXIGLAS® GS 0F00, PLEXIGLAS® XT 0A000 and the colors based on these standard grades comply with RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC including 2005/618/EC and contain neither polybrominated biphenyls nor polybrominated diphenyl ethers. These materials do not contain the metals lead, mercury, cadmium or hexavalent chromium according to the Directives 2002/95/EC including 2005/618/EC, 2000/53/EC, 2002/96/EC und the VDA List 232-101. ACRIFIX® and the named PLEXIGLAS® products do not contain any constituents of animal origin. The named products also comply with EU Directives 2000/53/EC (end-of-life vehicles) and 2002/96/EG (waste electrical and electronic equipment, WEEE) as well as the VDA List 232-101 (List of declarable substances in automotive construction).

PLEXIGLAS® GS and XT meet the requirements of the KTW Guideline (Guideline for the Hygienic Assessment of Organic Materials in Contact with Drinking Water) of the German Federal Environment Agency (Bundesgesundheitsblatt 2005) in the context of construction products. Since no surface growth can be detected on the sheets examined according to DVGW Worksheet W 270, PLEXIGLAS® GS and XT are suitable for use in contact with drinking water from a microbiological point of view.

In our opinion, general building inspectorate approval is usually not absolutely essential for PLEXIGLAS® multi-skin sheets. PLEXIGLAS® multi-skin sheets are sufficiently described in the relevant standards and their properties are documented in numerous test certificates and expert opinions. General building inspectorate test certificates also exist for PLEXIGLAS® multi-skin sheets. These documents are generally sufficient for approval issues. In exceptional cases, an individual approval should be applied for.
