PLEXIGLAS® roofs are easy to install
Do you want to cover a patio, carport or greenhouse? It is very simple: A roof made from PLEXIGLAS® multi-skin sheets, corrugated sheets and solid sheets is easy and safe to install. You can find all the information you need here.
PLEXIGLAS® is a strong lightweight
Would you have thought that the heaviest PLEXIGLAS® sheet in our multi-skin sheet roofing range weighs less than six kilograms per square meter? That has a noticeable positive effect on installation: You need less power and less help than with roofs made from many other materials – and a less solid sub-construction, too.
The low weight therefore has many benefits that give PLEXIGLAS® a significant advantage over glass. PLEXIGLAS® is much lighter, yet still extremely stable and break resistant.
This and numerous other properties, such as high light permeability, protection against UV radiation and a 30-year guarantee against yellowing, make PLEXIGLAS® a popular material for porches, patio and carport roofs and greenhouses.
Installing multi-skin, corrugated and solid sheets
Whether you are installing multi-skin, corrugated or solid sheets:
- The sub-construction should be torsion-free and made from laminated timber or metal.
- As dark surfaces heat up more strongly and quickly than light surfaces, it is very important that all component surfaces facing the sheet are permanently designed white or reflective.
- The roof pitch must be at least 5 degrees (= 90 mm/m) to ensure that rain water can run off effectively.
- Ensure that only clamping profiles, seals and other auxiliary and installation materials that are compatible with PLEXIGLAS® are used. Soft PVC, paint solvents, degreasers and other corrosive materials are not suitable. In case of doubt, please contact your specialist PLEXIGLAS® retailer.
You can find step-by-step instructions with various options for the sub-construction, tool lists, handling and fastening of the sheets here in our Instructions for Installing PLEXIGLAS® Multi-Skin, Corrugated and Solid Sheets.
