Enjoy all weathers with a PLEXIGLAS® patio roof

For many, a patio is a second living room where family and friends can dine, relax and party. When it’s raining or the sun is burning down strongly, however, the patio can quickly become an unpleasant place. A PLEXIGLAS® roof offers protection and makes it comfortable to stay out of doors in all weathers.
PLEXIGLAS®: UV-stable and light transmitting
Particularly in spring and summer, life moves to the outdoors. A roofed patio or balcony lets you enjoy the fresh air even when it’s raining. But a patio roof not only protects against precipitation, it also affords privacy and protection from sunlight. And patio furniture stays in shape for longer because it is not at the mercy of the elements, day in and day out.
PLEXIGLAS® is especially suitable as material for patio roofing because it is UV-stable. A property that gives the sheets the advantage of remaining brilliant and not yellowing, even after years of exposure to sunlight. What’s more, almost all clear-transparent PLEXIGLAS® products come with the backing of a 30-year warranty.
Moreover, UV radiation, which is harmful to human health, is blocked with an efficacy similar to that of sun protection factor 50, allowing all family members to stay on the patio for as long as they like without any worries. Rooms with windows facing the patio remain bright, thanks to the high light transmission of the branded acrylic.
Customized design options
PLEXIGLAS® solid sheets, and particularly PLEXIGLAS® multi-skin and corrugated sheets, are lighter than glass, which makes sturdy base structures unnecessary. Moreover, the material is simple to process so that even do-it-yourselfers can easily build and install a patio roof (find out more on the installation of PLEXIGLAS® multi-skin, corrugated, and solid sheets here). PLEXIGLAS® is available in a wide range of colors and surface textures so that roofing can be individually matched to structural requirements and personal taste.
Multi-skin, corrugated, and solid sheets - all are suitable for patio roofing
In principle multi-skin and corrugated sheets as well as solid sheets are suitable for open roofs. Because they are mounted in different ways, however, the overall visual appearance of the roofing, as well as that of the individual sheets, may differ.
In addition to solid sheets, for example, PLEXIGLAS® multi-skin sheets also offer glass-like transparency, due to their large web spacing. Moreover, the patented NO DROP technology of PLEXIGLAS® multi-skin sheets prevents the formation of water drops on the entire surface and even in the air chambers, which would reduce light transmission. If the sheets are coated with the special Anti-Adhesion-Application (AAA), cleaning is also a breeze because algal and moss growth is significantly reduced—and other dirt is simply washed off by rainwater.
PLEXIGLAS® corrugated sheets blend in harmoniously with your garden and are particularly easy to install, even by do-it-yourselfers (more information on installing PLEXIGLAS® multi-skin, corrugated, and solid sheets is available here).
By contrast with other plastic roofs, the sound made by rain on both types of PLEXIGLAS® sheeting is agreeably mild and generally causes no disturbance.
Different variants

PLEXIGLAS® multi-skin, corrugated, and solid sheets are available in different variants to meet different requirements on patio roofing. PLEXIGLAS® Resist (for which technical information is available in the download area), for example, is especially hard wearing and impact resistant, and is therefore better able to withstand hail or even branches falling from nearby trees.
If the patio faces south or south-west and is thus more strongly exposed to the afternoon and early evening sun, it’s worth considering suitable thermal protection. After many hours of sunlight the temperature under the patio roofing can become uncomfortable. PLEXIGLAS® Heatstop (for which technical information is available in the download area) reflects the sun’s heat rays, so that heat development of the area under the patio roof is up to 75 percent lower than under conventional double glazing. This special finish is available for solid sheets as well as multi-skin and corrugated sheets.
