PLEXIGLAS® and EUROPLEX® for Aviation
Made for mile-high requirements
Whether ultralight aircraft, helicopters or large commercial aircraft: materials in aircraft construction must withstand the highest stresses. They must offer extreme design freedom, withstand temperature fluctuations - and weigh as little as possible. One of the main challenges: Reducing fuel consumption through weight savings without compromising safety.
As the world leader in acrylic technology and sheet manufacturing facilities, PLEXIGLAS® and EUROPLEX® come together to meet the aircraft transparencies and the aircraft interior needs of the aviation markets. PLEXIGLAS® has a full line of sheet products that can meet the many needs of helicopter, general aviation, commercial aircraft and military aircraft windows and transparencies. EUROPLEX® high performance sheet products meet many of the most constringent requirement for aircraft interiors.
EUROPLEX® for aviation interior
Customised solutions for every application
EUROPLEX® PPSU
Ideal for large-area interior fittings: The opaque panels are suitable for cladding elements in wall, door and ceiling areas and are available in many colours.
Excellent fire safety: In addition to the FST requirements according to FAR 25.853 and ABD 0031, the OSU Heat Release Test (FAR 25.853 (d)) is also fulfilled.
High heat resistance: The material has excellent mechanical properties in continuous use up to 190 °C.
EUROPLEX® F
For a wide range of interior applications: The crystal-clear or opaque material is available in over 100 colors and can be easily processed into moulded parts, e.g. for aircraft seats, using the vacuum thermoforming process.
High fire resistance: The sheets meet the FST requirements according to FAR 25.853 and ABD 0031 and weigh only 1.2 g/cm3.
Low specific weight: The density of the material is only 1.2 g/cm3.
PLEXIGLAS® for aircraft glazing
Made for mile-high requirements
Whether ultralight aircraft, a helicopter or huge commercial aircraft: materials in aircraft construction must withstand the highest stresses. They have to withstand extreme temperature changes, protect against intense UV radiation, be weather-resistant and robust - and weigh as little as possible. One of the main challenges: Reducing fuel consumption through weight savings without compromising safety.
Aircraft transparencies were one of the first applications for PLEXIGLAS® sheets due to its lightweight, resistance to thermal shock, and excellent optical clarity and mechanical properties.
As a result, PLEXIGLAS® acrylic sheets have been used extensively in aircraft transparencies for many years.
