PLEXIGLAS® GS 249
PLEXIGLAS® GS 249 Aviation Grade is a cross-linked acrylic and meets AECMA 4365. Furthermore, it is qualified by the US Navy to meet Military Specification MIL-PRF-8184 as a Type I, Class 2. PLEXIGLAS® GS 249 supports aircraft transparencies exposed to chemical, environmental, and mechanical stress. Developed for demanding aerospace applications, it combines optical clarity with higher resistance to crazing, solvent attack, and crack propagation.
Properties
PLEXIGLAS® GS 249 is used across commercial, military, and rotary-wing aircraft transparencies in monolithic and laminated constructions where resistance to environmental exposure and mechanical performance are required.
✔ Qualified to MIL-PRF-8184 Type I, Class 2 (QPL listed)
✔ UV transmittance <1% (290–330 nm)
✔ Cross-linked acrylic sheet developed for aircraft applications
Performance Characteristics
- Cross-linked structure supports improved resistance to crazing and environmental stress cracking
- Offers improved resistance to solvent attack in exposure to aviation fluids and cleaning agents
- Supports improved dimensional stability after heating for consistent thermoforming results
- Helps improve resistance to crack initiation and propagation under cyclic loading conditions
- Well-suited for stretching processes in high-performance transparency applications
