PLEXIGLAS® for noise- and wind protection
Ensure peace with transparency
A wide variety of interests intersect when planning sound insulation measures along traffic routes. With PLEXIGLAS® Soundstop systems, the most important requirements can be met at the same time - e.g. effective noise and wind protection properties, high light transmission, extreme weather resistance, exceptional stability and good environmental compatibility.
In addition, PLEXIGLAS® Soundstop is also an aesthetic asset: Since the material is very easy to process, practically any shape and colour is possible.
The advantages at a glance
Transparent noise and wind protection: PLEXIGLAS® Soundstop solid sheets offer high airborne sound insulation with maximum light transmission - 30 years guaranteed non-yellowing for colourless transparent products.
Excellent mouldability and stability: Specific test results certify that PLEXIGLAS® Soundstop products has very good values in the relevant areas (airborne sound insulation, load as a result of snow removal, stone throw resistance, etc.).
Bird protection and splinter prevention: PLEXIGLAS® Soundstop XT BirdGuard warns birds by means of 2 mm wide visual strips; PLEXIGLAS® Soundstop GS CC has embedded splinter protection and also serves to protect birds.
Certified production, tested quality
PLEXIGLAS® is the world's first acrylic glass and has proven itself in the field of noise protection for decades. All solid panels for the construction of noise protection systems are manufactured by a TÜV-certified manufacturer in a casting process by polymerisation or extrusion.
The "suitability" of the large-format PLEXIGLAS® GS and XT sheets has been tested and confirmed in accordance with the relevant EN standards. According to current knowledge, the material does not release any relevant quantities of toxic or other undesirable substances.
What to consider during processing
The material thickness is determined by static and acoustic calculations as well as by load tests. On request, we can advise you on the thickness determination and pre-dimensioning based on your project-specific information.
The mounting accessories must be physically and chemically compatible with PMMA glazing1. For all-round clamp fastening, we recommend suitable extruded profiles based on EPDM rubber as an intermediate layer.
1 PMMA = Polymethylmethacrylat
