PLEXIGLAS® IS A “BRAND OF THE CENTURY”

PLEXIGLAS®, the Original by Röhm, has been a “Brand of the Century“ since 2007. And the brand acrylic glass has once again been included in the current edition of the “Deutsche Standards. Marken des Jahrhunderts” (Brands of the Century) encyclopedia for 2022 to 2024. This illustrated book, published by ZEIT Verlagsgruppe, is updated regularly and presents pioneering brands from Germany, as well as telling the story of their development.
A panel of judges awards the title to brands that are exemplary in their field and have set new standards of quality. PLEXIGLAS® is one of these. The chemist Dr. Otto Röhm and his team invented polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) and registered it as a brand in 1933. From the world’s first acrylic glass, the brand has grown into a family of products with a wide range of properties that has inspired product designers and accompanied technical advances in many segments for almost 90 years. Today, PLEXIGLAS®, the brand acrylic glass from Röhm, is one of the world’s best-known plastic brands.
