Sustainable booth construction in practice: PLEXIGLAS® proTerra White at K 2025

POLYVANTIS is using its first time at K 2025 in Düsseldorf for a very special demonstration: a podium made from PLEXIGLAS® proTerra shows that sustainable booth construction does not mean compromising on looks.

The international K trade fair for plastics and rubber in Düsseldorf is one of the most important events for the plastics industry. Every three years, companies come together to showcase their latest developments and technologies. International multi-material provider POLYVANTIS is exhibiting at K for the very first time, with a booth presenting its diverse portfolio of semi-finished plastic products. The company is focusing particularly on sustainability, dedicating a separate area to this topic.

A real eye-catcher: PLEXIGLAS® proTerra White

A gleaming white podium attracts the attention of every visitor to the trade fair. At first glance, the cladding looks like a classic version made from PLEXIGLAS® XT or a similar material, but it is actually an example of sustainable booth construction. The podium is entirely clad with PLEXIGLAS® proTerra White WM805 RC, which contains up to 90 percent recycled materials. From its appearance alone, there is no way of knowing that the material contains so much recycled material – it is identical to new material in this regard.

This is all thanks to the market-leading coextrusion process, in which a core of recycled PLEXIGLAS® is embedded between two thin layers of new material. The resulting solid sheets have a glossy surface on both sides and come with all the properties of PLEXIGLAS® XT. The material is processed in exactly the same way as conventional acrylic. For booth construction, this means that no new skills or specialist tools are needed, while the carbon footprint is significantly improved. Designers benefit from greater design freedom for many areas of application, while eliminating the need for additional planning when working with different materials.

The recycled material used for PLEXIGLAS® proTerra comes from a closed loop: Residues and waste from the manufacture, distribution and processing of PLEXIGLAS® semi-finished products are systematically collected and processed into new material. All production steps take place at German sites – keeping transportation routes short and enabling complete quality control.

In addition to the solid sheets produced in a coextrusion process, the PLEXIGLAS® proTerra product family also includes multi-skin and corrugated sheets, which are made using the proven extrusion process and contain at least 51 percent recycled material. This wide variety of products allows planners to find the perfect solution for a broad range of applications in booth construction and interior design.

Demonstrating elegant sustainable design

The POLYVANTIS booth is the perfect example of how sustainability and design freedom can go hand in hand. The gleaming white surface of the material makes it ideal for minimalist design concepts. The podium made from PLEXIGLAS® proTerra White integrates seamlessly into the booth concept, while at the same time highlighting the importance of sustainability. Visitors can learn more about the company’s sustainability strategy in a video. In addition, the podium provides a stage for a sculpture made from recycled LEXAN™ sheets.

Various properties make PLEXIGLAS® proTerra WM805 RC White the ideal material for booth construction. Its low weight and good processability compared to glass make transport and assembly considerably easier – a crucial advantage in time-critical booth installations. Another standout factor of the material is its toughness: It is more durable than glass, easy to clean, and resistant to wear. This guarantees that the podium remains gleaming white, right up to the very last day of the trade fair.

A signal for the sector

Many sectors are increasingly focusing on finding materials that are not just sustainable, but also practical and economical – and booth construction is no exception. PLEXIGLAS® proTerra meets these requirements and shows that sustainability, design freedom and functionality can go hand in hand. By using PLEXIGLAS® proTerra White WM805 RC at K 2025, POLYVANTIS demonstrates that sustainable booth construction is not only possible, but can also be visually appealing and technically impressive.

PLEXIGLAS® proTerra solid sheets

PLEXIGLAS® proTerra solid sheets are produced in a coextrusion process. The sheets are made from three layers that are inseparably joined to one another. At their core is a thick layer of recycled PLEXIGLAS® acrylic, embedded in two thin external covering layers made from new PLEXIGLAS®. In the colored versions, the internal layer of recycled material is given the same color as the cover layers.
